I'm looking to set up a few network cameras in my home. Any recommendations on Mac compatible hardware/software? Ideally, I'd love to be able to use my iPhone to access the video feed as well.

Thanks!

If you use Network IP cameras, then you can view the video stream using the QuickTime Player or any other application that is capable of accessing video over an IP network. The only caveat is that the video must be in a compatible format. H.264 appears to be a popular format for surveillance video so that this is not a problem. A Google search will find you many excellent options in much less time than is required to read this post.

Having said that, I really think that you need to examine your own motives. If you intend to use your Mac to view the video stream from a security camera or cameras, then my guess is that you want to do this on occasion. A nanny cam is one thing. Real security is quite another. I would certainly not dedicate a Mac to the task.
