i'd like an external drive to back up my MBP, this will be in addition to backups done via time machine on my NAS. i'd make a backup to this external hdd every month or so and store this offsite (not ready to take the cloud backup step as yet).

what external HDD would you recommend? your suggestions much appreciated. thx.

Since your already have a NAS backup, I suggest going with a cheap USB 2.0 enclosure and the hard drive of your choice.

I went with a LaCie Rugged 1TB. It was a little expensive, but I use it in a location where being knocked around is a very real possibility.
