I get these automatic software updates for various apps on my 2 month old iBook.. I'm thinking these are similar to the Windows updates only it's nice of OS X to actually ask you and not go ahead an install them for you...

So far I've just been asnwering negative and ignoring these. Is it wise or recommended to install updates everytime one of these windows pops up? IS there something I should be wary of? I would definitely be wary if I were in the Windows world hence the hesitation.

Thanks :)

For Apple you get various things, they are fine to install, just read what they are. Some are for the O/S, Security, iPhoto, Itunes, Airport and so on. After the updates make sure you Repair Permissions.

And dont forget a backup never hurts before an O/S update.

I'd definitely recommend them. They add stability and sometimes speed to the operating system, and the application updates add new/improved features. (Usually to iLife stuff.)
