I see that a lot of folks are starting to get excited about iOS 8.3.

With that - I am still on 7.1.2 on my iPhone 5s. If/when I decide to go for 8.3 - Can anyone share the best method to get the cleanest install of 8.3 and then (hopefully) but my backup data back on the phone?

Appreciate any info from the field.

Cheers,

Sonic

1) Do an iCloud backup and or backup to your PC or Mac.
2) Wipe all data by doing an erase all data, reset all settings
3) Connect device to your PC or Mac and do a restore via iTunes. It will download the latest version iOS. Connecting to iTunes and doing a restore keeps the OS from booting, from what i've read.

* others prefer putting their device in DFU Mode.

p.s. I don't think it really matters unless you encounter problems. I have never had a problem just doing an OTA update, never but maybe i'm just lucky. :)

The "cleanest" install would involve not using your backup. However, if your data is a must, then what the above poster said is fine. Though it's really not necessary to erase all content and settings on the device and then restore through iTunes. Simply restoring through iTunes should suffice.
