Hello everyone!

I have a question: do you know if there is a utility to record what happens on the Mac OS screen but also displaying a keyboard and mouse to show the keys that are pressed?

So far the only method I've found has been to use the on-screen keyboard, but I was looking for something a little "smarter".

A thousand thanks!

The Keyboard Viewer can show keys pressed on a physical keyboard.

It's related to the Accessibility Keyboard, but has different options. See links in that article.

In short, show the Keyboard Viewer, then when you press keys on the physical keyboard, the corresponding keys will hilight for as long as the physical key is pressed. If you type any faster than a snail-like pace, the hilights will be very brief. I also suggest turning off the "hold down to auto-repeat" Keyboard feature. Otherwise trying to type slow enough to make the key highlights visible will trigger auto-repeat a log.

For many years, I've used the Keyboard Viewer to find where the "unusual" chars are located on my keyboard. Those are chars like • † or ¢, which are all activated with the OPTION key on my US keyboard.
