I don't understand how Apple forces every Mac with Lion to record video at the new higher resolution, when most have a VGA camera. Is there any way to get Photo Booth to record at the previous resolution?

Since the LED backlight Macbook Pro (mid-07), the iSight has been able to record at 1280x1024. But was/is limited via software to VGA resolution. It would seem that Lion has removed these limitations.

Good to know. I'm a bit disappointed because the quality is complete crap in photos/videos at that high resolution >.<
