"Black market apps" sounds so negative!

You should look more seriously into Jailbreaking if you want video recording. It really is safe and is opens up many more options. Plenty of help here on Macrumors if you get stuck with questions too...

Jailbreaking is your only option if you want video recording at this point. It's obvious that the iphone is capable of video recording and I don't see Apple's reason behind not unlocking it for use.
