Recording a bands music

my friends have a small band and are having trouble recording (they use a video camera then rip the audio off it, not the best)

i need two devices, a mic that can plug into a computer to record, and a device to plug a guitar/bass into to record onto a computer

i would like two suggestions for each if you dont mind, a nice one you would honestly recommend, and another one for someone on a budget
