17,1 iMac, 10.14.3. Need help thinking through this recording session. My object is to record a video in Safari. Not only the screen, but sound will be recorded. However I do not want to monitor the recording sound. Or I want the ability to TOGGLE off the iMac sound, but still record sound from video.

I can do this with Quicktime Player, Audio Midi Setup, and Soundflower. The reason I am writing is that doing so, gives me recorded video sounding as if from a barrel. To me, the resulting sound is being recorded by a microphone of the iMac. Giving it the sound in a barrel, I want to hear the direct video sound.

I have tried iMac sound input and output at various settings, set the Master Device on Soundflower or Built in Out-put. Still the barrel sound persists.

What am I missing to be able to record the sound directly from the video, but be able to TOGGLE sound out without picking up sound from an internal microphone.

Works if you switch the Quicktime Player to Soundflower. Its the little accent next to the red trigger button before recording.
