Recording Audio with what App?

Hi.

I want to record audio from an external sound card (Griffin iMic). So far I tried Quicktime 7. Doesn't work very well. "Final Vinyl" a free simple audio program that crashes sometimes. That's a no go.

What other free and simple apps can you recommend? Note: I only want to record audio aus WAV or AIFF, nothing more.

Audacity is easy to use and should do the job.

Both take a lot of cpu (especially Garageband takes 100% on a G4 Powerbook).
