recording bass on garageband

i was wondering what would be the best way to record bass. should i mic up my amp or just run the bass directly into my mac?

if you are a beginner at recording definitely just DI the bass (directly into your Audio digital converter) you will get decent tone that way. Mic'ing amps is an art and unless you are skilled and have good gear you will not do better than the DI solution

You can just plug the bass cable into most A/D/A boxes, and record the line-level signal
