I want to record a record onto my macbook.

My record player has a minijack headphone port.

My MacBook has a audio input port.

I have a minijack to minijack wire.

I plug one end into each.

Change my System Preferences to external audio port.

Open GarageBand

Click Create New Track, Click 'Real intrument'

Try to record.

And it records the built in microphone! Help please?

I'm in the same boat , lastnight I tried it from a tape to md disk to macbook no go.

macbooks and mac mini's have opticals cables for input not analog.

best bet I'm going to try next if you have it , hook it up to a modern amp with the record player going through it. then use the optical out for sound into the macbook . fine the optical at walmart they have them for like 5.00

thats the only way I see it to work.

otherwise your sol
