Is there anyone out there that records HBO HD, Cinemax HD, etc. onto their computers? If so, what are you using to do it? I currently have a MBP and digital cable and basically just wanted to output the cable box into my computer and record. (and eventually put on apple tv) Thank you to anyone who can help!

HBO and the other premium movie channels encrypt their output. You can record them on DVRs that are approved by your cable company or satellite provider but insofar as I know you can’t, legally at least, copy them from your DVR to your computer.

The output going to your TV is standard output on whatever cable type it is. If you can get that into your eyeTV or something, you can record it.
