Some of my friends record TV shows on their computers. They say you can get some sort of external thing to do it if you don't have it already. Anybody know anything about it?

I want to do the same thing, but which one do I get? All I want to do is watch TV and record the occasional program to send to my daughter in college. Any real world reviews out there? I have a iMac G5.

The EyeTV 250 is pretty good. It offers all the basic features and has hardware based encoding so it does not use your computer's processor to encode the video therefore using less resources.

HMMM....I have a iMac G5 with 1 gig ram, so shouldn't be a problem, but paying the extra $50 might be worth have the external compressor and not tying up the computer. What about the myTV.PVR? Anyone hear of that one?
