Using AW6 and on a walk today noticed it automatically came on asking if I wanted to start walking exercise today - clicked ok and it recorded the walk with data and the route we took - very good but I noticed it didn’t ask me until we had done about 10 mins of walking then it recognised walking exercise. Is the first 10 mins captured or lost until I click on ok ?

Lost until you click ok. If you want to capture all the time, you will need to manually start a exercise workout.

I walk a lot and sometimes forget to start it. If I have been sitting on the couch prior, it will pretty accurately ask me if I want to record a walk even if it asks me a mile into it.

The first 10 minutes are captured. If you are in an outside walk, the watch needs about 10 minutes of brisk MOSTLY UNINTERRUPTED walking before it recognizes the exercise. If you are running, the wait before it starts is about 3 minutes. In both cases, it will recognize the previous moments (10' or 3') as part of the workout.

Not quite, lost only if you cancel the work out after the automatic recognition prompt. If you click ok it counts the preface as part of the workout. That is part of the novelty of the automatic workout recognition.

Glad to see I was wrong.
