Just purchased a new iMac and now I'm looking for an external CD burner. I bought a LG SP80NB60. It was $30 and wasn't worth $3 and will be returned in the morning.

Not looking for anything heavy duty as it will primarily be used to occasionally burn music CD's and transfer other music CD's to my online library. I would prefer slot-style loading as opposed to a tray.

I'd appreciate any suggestions and/or reviews from happy users!

Thanks!

I'd recommend that you stick with a tray loader -- they last longer, fewer problems.
Yes, I realize it's "more work" getting the discs onto and out of it.

I'd suggest a Samsung DVD/CD/Bluray burner with M-DISC support.
Cost more money, but worth it.

Something like this:

I have an earlier version (before they added M-DISC).
It's worked flawlessly, every burn is a good one.

Some drives require a "Y-cable" to supply enough USB power to run the drive, but the Samsung runs just fine with only a single cable.
