recover backups on Time Capsule

I recently did a hard reset on my Time Capsule and as far as I know I set everything to the same. I cannot reach my backups and the old file references I have to shared files on the Time Capsule are also inaccessible.

Should it simply allow me to continue running backups on the same space in Time Capsule?

It shouldn't require any configuring once you connect it.
