recover deleted files?

has anyone had much luck recovering deleted files (after trash has been emptied) there are many programmes that claim to do this - anyone know which ones work best ?

Data Rescue worked for me several times, it even had to scan one HDD for over a week and it worked.

TechTool Pro along its other flagship features, has a "trash emptied" recovery that is really good.

I just use the built in time machine. If it went into the trash it was on your computer at some point which means you can go into the backup and drag any files you want out. Only works with a backup HDD though.
