Recover lost imessages?

I just got home from a trip to Mexico where there was no phone service or internet. When I was there, I accidentally turned off iMessage on my phone and couldn't turn it back on since I didn't have an internet connection. I didn't bring my computer or my iPad on the trip, and I read that any iMessages I received while my phone had iMessage disabled would be sent to my computer and iPad. I just checked both devices and they weren't there. I am positive there are messages I missed because other members of group chats received them and I didn't. When people sent me texts it said delivered, so I don't want them to think I'm ignoring them. Is there a way to recover these messages? Thanks!
