I had a 13" macbook pro stolen and am quite upset about this.

I filed a police report with serial number but that's pretty much all the police have to go on.

I was in a rush and left the laptop in a bag in the rear seat. i parked on a quiet street without any foot traffic so I just assumed I was safe.

I haven't backed up in quite some time but have my most essential files backed up.

I was not logged into icloud at the time.

The police said I parked in an area with lots of street breakins although the area looked quite safe and very quiet. I know I should have kept it in the trunk, which would have been more secure although not completely secure.

I am just dismayed right now at the lack of precuations I took but I'm wondering if there is any way of recovering this laptop either by checking with pawnshops or by:

1. offering a reward on craigslist
2. checking craislist to see if the thief posted it.

Any recommendations welcome.
