Recover Word File- can anybody please help!

so I had this file word file opened and i wanted to rename it. i did something really dumb and renamed it in finder from "essay 2" to "essay 2 outline" then created another word document with the name "essay 2". when i did this, the new document kept saying "read only" so i pressed save. when this happened, it seemed fine, but when i closed "essay 2 outline" i couldn't find it anymore. i've looked everywhere and even tried a recovery program called data rescue: nothing worked. can somebody please help me?

Drop $80 on a nice LaCie for Time Machine. Although that probably won't do anything now.
