Recovering Emptied Trash Items With Data Rescue 3

Hello,

I am trying to recover a virtual box image file (.vmdk) that I foolishly deleted + emptied the trash.

I have a full version of Data Rescue 3; I ran a deep scan and can now see a huge amount of found and recovered items.

I've searched for many keywords including 'ubuntu', 'virtual box', '.vmdk' to try and find this file - nothing has shown up.

Is there anywhere else it could be? Is there a certain directory emptied trash files are placed?

Anything will help. If I can't find this file then I am going to fail my computer science class.. no joke.
