I have a friend who has dropped his Home folder onto my external hard drive (including Photos, Movies, Library etc.). He was hoping that I could recover some photos from his folders that he says were accidently deleted. I know traditionally you would just run recovery software like DiskWarrior or Tech Tool Pro but he no longer owns his mac and simply has these folders to work with.

So the basic question is:
Is it possible to recover deleted photos from the iPhoto Library using only the Photos folder (which contains his entire iPhoto library) and his home Library folder.

.... also if it is not possible to recover photos of any kind, is it possible to recover anything else? I would love to be able to at least show him some sort of results as I owe him a favor ;)

Thanks for your help in advance!

Sorry, but I don't think it's possible.
The only way to recover anything is to have the actual drive, because everything that is marked as "empty space" will not be transfered over.
If you made a clone of that drive, it could be possible, but I'm not sure.
Sorry.
