My main question is how can I get my iPhoto library back on my Mac ?

I’m was running macOS High Sierra Public Beta 1 for some months, then all of a sudden
I got a message after a restart saying ‘your computer restarted because of a problem' press any key,
followed but a dialog box saying there was a problem.

The log shows there is a panic report with the kernel trap.

The only way to stop it constantly restarting was to downgrade out of the Beta version onto the Mac OS High Sierra version (non Beta).

I’m happy to stop running the Beta version, if it means my Mac works normally as doesn’t keep asking to restart which now appears to be the case.

But I now find my iPhoto library has gone and saying ‘unsupported library’

All my photos are on my iPhone and backed up on iCloud so nothing list.

Is there a way to get my full library of photos back on my Mac without losing anything ?

To clarify are you using iPhoto or Photos software?

If iPhoto it should work fine with previous OS because the software version is the same.

If you have Photos then its going to be complicated because older OS version wont recognize newer Photos library.

Hopefully you have a Time Machine or clone backup made BEFORE installing beta OS...

If you don't have such a backup you could try:

A: Open the library file while pressing Control, select show contents and drag Masters folder to desktop or another folder. Then import all the pictures to a new library. You will likely lose some metadata.
B: Create new library and import all files back from the iCloud. You will likely lose some metadata and it will almost certainly take much longer than option A.
C: Try to repair the Library by pressing Command+Option while opening the Photos, I haven't tested this between different OS versions so it might not work.

Next time you might want to consider making backup to external drive before installing beta OS, relying on iCloud for backup might not be the best idea...
