I am having a problem with disk utility not recognizing my internal ssd while in recovery. I can't reinstall Sequoia because it doesn't recognize the internal drive. While on my desktop disk utility does recognize the drive. What could be the problem? Could it be the ssd?
Thanks for any reply!

I am sorry, but it is a 2019 27 inch iMac. Changed the hdd out to a wd sn850x back in September. Been working fine but last month it started resetting all by itself. Now I can’t see the disks from recovery.
Thanks

I mean it just cuts out completely and restarts all by itself. Screen goes blank and it restarts back to the log in screen.

Yes, I contacted them about that. They said it was only windows based, not for Apple software! Thank you.

But I checked the site you sent and it shows a Mac installation. I will try that. Thanks again!

The internal ssd is not recognized in recovery. I bought another external drive and recovery doesn’t recognize it either. Could a bad internal ssd prevent recovery from recognizing an external ssd?
Thanks

If you are looking at things using disk utility, have you gone to the "View" menu and chosen "show ALL devices" ??

Yes, I have done that, but it is still not there. Some times it is there and some times it is not. When it was there, I tried to install an operating system on it, but it wouldn’t go through. So, I restarted and booted into recovery again and it is not there. So, I am believing my ssd has gone bad.

You have to boot into macOS Recovery mode, which will help you to repair disk issues, restore, or even reinstall the operating system.

I used the internet recovery, but since I have found the problem to be my memory cards. Have sent them back and new ones are on the way.
Thank you.
