Recovery Mode on Firmware 2.0 and later

Hey guys

Could some tell me how to put my iphone in Recovery mode....(where there screen has the USB and iTunes Logo. Ive tried every method but it only brings me to a black screen. i think thats DFU mode. How do i get it so it has the USB and iTunes Logo on there?

turn off your iphone

unplug your iphone from your computer, but keep the cord plugged in to your iphone.

press and hold the home button and plug it in to your computer

it will turn on in recovery mode and itunes will prompt you to restore.
