anyone know where you can find places to recycle these or dispose of them properly?

The Apple Store will take your laptop battery and recycle it for free. Just take it in and drop it off. I don't know about the cell batteries.

Yeah- I actually just called them about it a few weeks ago. My iBook battery is just about to die, so I wanted to make sure I could take it in. I'm using the thing til it dies though. I don't want to start using my new one until it does. ;)

Recycling centers do not take laptop batteries

Don't send your laptop batteries to a regular recycling center, they don't accept them. Apple stores do accept Apple laptop batteries.
