So, short story, daughters watch series 0, she dropped it (small crack upper right), but was working fine. She attempted update to watch OS4 and now gets red ! on watch start. Took into Apple, who said they would have to send it in, and because of crack required $199 fee. Did not ask them to fix crack, just the faulty update. Regardless back and forth with Apple was less then useless, so now I have a bricked watch. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Best you can do is talk to the store manager (they have a little more discretion over what transpires) and explain it to them. They're usually quite reasonable.

You really have no choice other than getting apple to fix it. There's no DFU mode with the watch - no way for us to blast a new OS on it as they never gave us access to the diagnostics port on the watch (that's solely for service centres and accessory partners).
