I spilled some RedBull onto my MBPro and I shut it off after I quickly saved some important research papers onto a drive and shut it off and stuck it into a bag of rice to absorb moisture. I just want to make sure this was the right thing to do and if y'all have any extra tips on saving my computer, they would be appreciated!

Where exactly did the spill take place and how much. Shutting off quickly was probably the right thing to do. But if this was a huge spill then I would say there is a greater likely hood that your machine may have some major internal damage.

Spilled Redbull on my MBP, now it doesn't go to sleep.

I hope your machine is aok. I would have used a paper towel to get as much liquid off it as I could and then wipe it to get as much stickiness off of it. To dry it out, I would have used a hair dryer (carefully) on it.

sugar is the main concern here, someone spilled half a can of coke into my PC keyboard once, the keys took their sweet sticky time to come back up after being pressed down lol.

its going to need a lot of clean up work, maybe order a replacement keyboard and see how it goes?

Wouldn't the sugar also attract ants? I have read threads about people having ants in their keyboards. Now that would suck.

Warranty is shot now...
Go ahead, and open it up, and start wiping down everything you see.
You can use some sprays of a window cleaner, or such, to try to clean the stickyness, but be 100% everything is dry before applying power. It just takes a nanosecond to zap something, and make it a doorstop.

Still, not 100% sure that will work, but worth a try.

If it's dead, time to recycle.

Good Luck.

If I were you, I'd be more concerned that you pour this stuff inside yourself :D

Remove the hard drive and put it into an Anti Static bag until you can figure out what's up with your machine. If you turn it on and it's shorted out you can kiss your data good bye.

Depending on how much liquid you actually spilled, I would definitely open the machine up and clean it up. All the sugar that they put in Red Bull will make things sticky, plus sugar could eventually corrode the circuitry.
