Synology told me that my issue is with MacOS rather than with their NAS. The deal is, most folders on my NAS seem to be fine when browsing the AFP share, but when I copy them to my HD I get a red circle with a minus icon and have to assign permissions manually. Most folders do this, some don't. I have no idea what's going on but I repaired permissions on my hard drive, quadruple checked settings on my NAS (and it only recently started this!) as well as some other stuff.
I'm running High Sierra on one Mac and Yosemite on another. I have a feeling it's still my NAS but I thought I'd check here just in case.
