Red circle on calendar?

i think I have my new MacBook Pro figured out, for the most part.
On September 1 a red circle with a 1 appeared on my calendar, it's still there. What is it telling me?

AFAIK it's a reminder, like a birthday or something like that. Have you tried double-clicking the icon or the day to see what it displays?

If you've got it synced up to facebook or some other social media thing it may showw all those peoples birthdays or event reminders etc.
