Red dot on missed calls icon, missing after upgrade to 3.0

I upgraded my girl's iphone 3G to the new 3.0 software lastnight. Today she sent me a text that said " Hey, my phone isn't showing when I have new messages or missed calls?!?!?!?!"

I am new to the iphone so I don't know if there is a setting that she needs to enable, after going to 3.0, or if we should re-install the 3.0, or what to do?

any help would be great!

I would just try restoring the iPhone to see if it is an issue with the software on it.

I would also make sure that you restore the phone as a new phone. If you restore from backup you run the risk of bring back in the "bad" data and you got out of the phone in the first place.
