For about 2 weeks now I have had a red dot over my phone icon and then when you go into phone, it's over the voicemail icon.

I have no voice mails to listen to or none saved. I've also been getting a notification saying new voice mails when I don't.

Thanks,

Ainsley

Is cellular data on? Try holding 1 on the dial pad and calling voicemail, and see if you have messages there.

I have had similar issues with voicemail when I was on at&t and the way I was able to fix it was to log into voicemail and reset all my voicemail, delete them and log off and the voicemail notification was gone, but you are referring to a dot right.

Can you please take a snapshot of the dot so we can see it.

My iPhone isn't jailbroken and doesn't seem to have any other problems with it.

Excuse my background.

Thanks.

This is weird.

Have you recently switched to Three?

Some of the posters above might not realise that they don't have Visual Voicemail.

They don't use standard voicemail notifications either (they send you a text message when a new message arrives).

You might like to try clearing the network settings:

"Reset your network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings"

This will clear out any Wi-Fi passwords that you have stored on the device though.

I too have had this problem for over a month now, and the icon really bugs me. Likewise I am also on Three, and have no voicemails saved. I have done a reset of network settings and even did a factory restore. Really would like to know how to get rid of it!!!

I had this for a while on O2. I just set a custom voice mail and it went away. It kept coming back for about 2 weeks but would go when I reset my voice mail message. That was nearly 2 years ago now and had no more problems.

I had the same problem with a friends phone. Call yourself and leave a voicemail. Listen to the voicemail and the red dot should go away after that.

Great signal there too bud ;)

The 3 network is absolutely terrible for signal, especially in my area.

If I go into a building, my school, Tesco, Starbucks or whatever the signal goes. It's so annoying!

Thank you everyone for your input, I'll try the suggestions later on. If that fails I'll go to a 3 shop and ask their staff to sort it out.

Dear Ainsley, Just remove your SIM, install some other SIM in your phone, use it once and then replace back your original SIM. It may work. Good Luck

I know this is an old thread, hope someone can help anyway.

I'm having similar issues. I have a red dot over the voicemail icon but when I check there are no new (or saved) voicemail messages. The icon is still there after checking. I have even turned my voicemail off but have this icon there. Now I cannot turn voicemail back on. I'm with O2 in the UK and have tried 1750 but it says there is no number.

Probably best to talk to your carrier customer service and have them try to do a voicemail reset and ensure you're enabled for visual voicemail (if appropriate).

This usually works. I have had this happen a couple of times and leaving a new voicemail, then checking it cleared it.

After reading this thread I have a contribution but not a complete solution. My wife uses an IPhone 3 and has the same problem. I can turn the red dot on and off at will by turning on cellular data. When on the dot is gone and when off the dot appears. My vote is it has to do with visual voicemail.

I figure they've either found a solution or moved on with their lives 4 years later. At least I hope so....
