hey yall
now i've always had problems networking my mac to my xp machine. it just never works no matter how many tutorials i've ran through and the only thing i could use to transfer files to my mac was red kawa file server (originally used for ps3)
anyway...transferring files from mac to windows in my case is a nightmare. both my external hard drives have failed, i lost my 2gig usb stick and i only have a 256mb stick and i have to split my files and transfer each part on the 265mb stick to my windows machine...ugh
anyway...so i gave red kawa file server a go on my mac today and i got .... mixed results
Loads up in crossover (very slow to install, download java and start up)
when it does start up it sets a standard c:\ directory (for windows) and it finds 2 other drives "y & z" which both link to your mac files
so load up the server and add in the 2 drive locations and yippie so far it worked for me.
when i went to my windows machine and typed in the address it gave me it failed but it could be due to my networking problem. now i can get it to work windows to mac fine but mac to windows it fails to open up in my browser.
mac address: http://192.168.1.8:8192
win address: http://192.168.1.2:8192
any ideas? do you think its my networking problem? like i said i can get it from win to mac fine but mac to win fails and i cant network properly. it just doesn't work for me. i must be doing something wrong or some setting is off
