I bought my new iPhone 3G(16gb white), and when I bought my iPhone there was a red dot on the phone icon. When I click on the phone icon it has a red dot on the voicemail icon. It does nothing when I click on the voicemail icon, because I do not have vocemail. I have tried to restored it but the red dot is still there. And I did NOT unlock it or jailbreak it. Does any one know how to get rid of it? Or should I call apple about the red dot on the phone icon?

Thanks

It just went away. I don't know how.

Did you just recently get the phone? When I first got my 3g I was wondering why I wasn't getting any vmails. I found out when I tried to access it. You have to set it up when you first get the phone or you won't receive any of them.

I bought my iPhone the first day it came out(july 11). And I don't get vocemail because I do not pay for vocemail.

Thanks

hes NOT in US, meaning he has to PAY for the Voicemail feature....which he apparently is not paying for.....so he does NOT want to set up voicemail...read people!

i get the red dot on the phone icon when i don't have a data signal. I thinks its just to tell you that visual voicemail isn't available. no big deal.

They charge you guys for voicemail! that should be illegal...seriously...how much is it?
Prepaid users get theirs free but they are still charged airtime to access it.

Monthly users usually get charged anywhere from $5 to $7 for basic voicemail, credits may apply depending on tenure. :f

^^ lol, but yeah dont worry about a red dot...it tells you that there is no visual voicemail availible in that area where you are..

welcome by da way :D

Jeez Canadians really get nickled and dimed!

I realize that Rogers' rates were awful, but voicemail doesn't come standard? Jeez you guys get nickled and dimed...what else do they charge for?

i think they also charge for caller id, so when someone calls, you dont see there phone number, name, photo etc etc unless you pay
its as if they are using withheld number!

Where did you read that he was not in the US? Without refering to the post below yours.

I think it costs you guys like $175 to end service right?
it costs us $400 to do so.
We pay more for everything in Canada, not just wireless phones. We pay more for: gas, food, cars, books, electronics, clothes, etc. etc. etc.

pce :apple:

You could try resetting your network settings
(Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings)
but it sounds like a network issue more than a phone issue.

The iPhone assumes everyone will use voicemail... they didn't plan on Rogers ripping off Canadians for it =/

Wow. Yeah it's about $175 but it's prorated now so the price goes down depending on how far along you are in your contract.

Damn, here $400, then I think the lowest is $200 if you have less than a year left or something, or you can choose to pay $20 a month for the remaining time in your contract. it's gayyyyy
