Earlier today I opened my office drawer to lift out my iPhone 16 Pro Max and head off to dinner.

I was greeted with a faint dark red color on the screen, thinking I possibly clicked the camera button or something.

Nope, regardless of what I pressed or held down I just could not get rid of this red screen, and I was starting to panic!

I work Offshore and still on the Rig for another 16 days, and will need my phone, and for getting home.

Contacted Apple Support (as I have Applecare+ and still within the year warranty), sent them the photo of the screen, first thing they told me to try was Volume Up, Volume down then hold the power button. Which turned the screen to black, then the logo to connect the iPhone to a computer was displayed, I then held the power button down and the phone thankfully reset and came back to life!

The Apple agent told me he's seen this before, and advised there's an issue between the main board and display.

Once I get home, he will instruct a replacement to be shipped out on express, with a hold on my card to then ship the old one back.

Not sure if anyone else has seen this issue, but has happened to others according to the agent, I was actually surprised he told me this, usually it's the 'this is the first report' nonsense.

Wow. It’s a breath of fresh air that the support person said he or she has seen this problem before and agreed to exchange it. Good news.
