i recently tried to boot an imac that had been sitting for a while. i know it was working because i packed it away.

it was completely dead, after a bit of diagnosis i replaced the power supply and it booted right up. After that the screen seams to be stuck in what looked like a low res low color mode but ive changed every setting i could think of.

i replaced the display with the display out of my parts beast and it had no effect. some things look ok and something things look very wrong.

I guess that leaves the video card but i dont have one since thats whats wrong with my spare as well. ( common issue apparently )

Any other suggestions before i order a used video card.

Resetting the PMU and re-calibrating your colorsync profile are commonly recommended. https://discussions.apple.com/message/2848058#2848058
