I have a Macbook Pro and when I close the lid (computer on) I get a red vertical line on the left side of the screen. Any clue has to what this could be?

As I am closing it, I notice it.

Should of been more clear.

had this exact same problem, started off innocent then grew. i would see red, blue, and green lines when i open/close the lid. later they would not go away.

took it to apple store, had to send it away, they replaced the whole monitor, now the problem is fixed. the new display isn't perfect; it has some uneven black lighting but overall i can't complain too much

also, battery went to crap got that replaced too

do this before your warranty runs out

Oh god. So now whenever something visual-related goes wrong it's automatically the nVidia chips going bad? This is only going to become more frequent and annoying over the next months.

Well, nine times out of 10 visual anomalies are related to the graphics card, most often the video memory.

So yeah, he offered up the nVidia chip as a possibility.

oh no! i am starting to get this problem as well when i wake my MBP from sleep. theres 1 vertical red line on the left side of the screen as i login and after login, it disappears. This is probably the 3rd time it has happened.

Is there a verdict to this problem?
Will it get worse?
Should i call Apple?
