Hello. Long time lurker first time poster.
I recently bought a Mac Pro. Just last week, I purchased Win XP 64 bit OEM with a free Vista upgrade from NewEgg. I installed XP under VMWare and all seems to be working fine.
I completed the online registration for the Vista upgrade and received an email from the folks handling the upgrade redemption (Moduslink, I think) and they want me to fax a proof of purchase for a qualifying PC.
Being confused, I called for clarification. I told the CS rep that it was installed on a Mac, which is *not* on a list of qualifying PCs. When I asked if certain hardware upgrades were also covered (I've bought 3 hard drives and a RAM upgrade as well), I was directed to an MS site that no longer longer exists.
So, am I stuck without the free Vista upgrade or is there a way to salvage this without buying a new MB/CPU for the homebuilt PC that's collecting dust in the corner of computer room?
Thanks.
