By any chance do you think Apple will release the new macbook pro (redesign) by this October/ November? ( I checked the buyers guide, usually the cycle is for about 230 days and I guess last time the new design was launched in October so). If not Oct,then when? January?

Many thanks in advance.

Highly doubt it. The redesign and refresh will come Q1 or Q2 of 2012 when Intel releases their low power Ivy Bridge processors. If you recall last year the Oct MBP refresh was just a spec bump from 2.66 to 2.8 on the i7.

Why not?

If you look at buyersguide:

02/2008 -> just spec update

10/2008 -> redesign

I think, now we are in the same situation. Why they shouldnt prepare the redesign for October and then probably Q1 of 2012 implement the new Ivy Bridge. So they can sell their macbooks twice....

It'd def be good for holiday sales but other than that it seems kinda rushed. They're already pumping out new Mac pros, Mac minis, and MacBook airs, next week.

Looking forward to the possible redesign, about time... :D

Same here. I want them to get rid of the optical drive. And yeah, this will probably happen in the beginning of 2012 because of IvyBridge.

Yep, deffo in all of them, I'm gonna be buying the redesigned 17" from Amazon.co.uk next year, I would buy one now but I've been waiting this long, I might as well wait till they get refreshed

I'd cry if they updated it this year, I bought a 2011 two weeks ago!

They might, but it would most likely be a small spec bump. Nothing to fret about. :)

That's the problem with Apple, I'm holding off getting a MBP and an iPod Touch, it will be worth it though :p

I think that's the problem with just about anyone, frankly. The tech world is constantly moving. Buy something and enjoy it! ;)

thread is pointless, no one will know until apple releases it

if u want a macbook pro now, go and buy it. they are great machines
