somewhere warm, dark, and cozy
I remember some time ago there were rumors of the fifth iPhone featuring a new metal or polycarbonate back. Is there a chance of it happening come June/July? What do you think?

It was a design for the back of the iPhone 3GS, but they didn't end up using it.

I always thought that Apple bought Liquid Metal to make the bezel/antenna.
Exactly - and other complex shapes. But never they will use it for a simple backplate.

Liquid metal is not new, it is more of an advanced cast iron with special alloys.

I'm hoping they give us a liquid metal case in black, looking something halfway between a 3G and a 4. And then with a cut out for the Apple logo made of plastic for the antenna to hide behind, which could also hide a notification light.

If they move the antenna back inside the phone, where it belongs, I can't see a metal back. It would be degrading to the RF.

I would rather a high end plastic like maybe what a Glock is made of. Durable with the same color all the way through so if it gets scratched it remains the same color.;)

There is nothing wrong with plastic if it is the right plastic.:)

Exactly. And there's everything wrong with a glass back. Slippery, shatter-prone, scratches easily. Bad choice that. It's a crime to design a phone that almost requires you to put a case on it.

Some people want "pretty".

I think rugged would be much better. With high quality plastics you could get pretty and rugged. No case would be required. I have never had a case that did not degrade access to the buttons/controls.
