Redirecting infection

Hey guys so I have a Macbook running OSX 10.9.5 and is running Safari to 7.1.2. I've gotten infected with some type of bug that will constantly open a pop up window to random services like MacKeeper and Purifier. The pop ups are caused when I decide to type information onto a website, I hope that makes sense. Let me give you an example; when you first get to the macrumors website and you click your mouse on the "user" field to type in your username, well as soon as i click on the field a pop up comes up. Then when I go into the password field another pop up comes up. Some of the pop ups are more persistent then others but either way its terrible. Can anyone help?

yes that makes sense : you got yourself an adware/malware.

Run AdwareMedic, then check Safari Preferences to remove any unwanted extension.
