iPod Redownloading Purchased Shows?

I just had a harddrive failure, and I lost about 40 TV shows which I had purchased from iTunes. Is there a way to redownload them?

I'm afraid not , but im not 100 percent sure. I do know that iTunes does warn you at some point that you need to backup. Can't remember where. I take it you havent made a backup
