Redsn0w jailbreak problem

I'm trying to jailbreak an mc model of the 8 gig ipod touch 2nd generation. I'm using redsn0w .9.2 on a window's vista with firmware 3.1.2. Whenever it finishes jailbreaking(after the pineapple) , it goes straight to restore mode after rebooting and I have to restore it, then jailbreak all over again. It just stays at the usb cable pointing to itunes. Any help? I've also tried jailbreaking it on a mac with redsn0w and it gets stuck at the waiting for reboot. Can anyone help me with either of these methods? I don't really want to use blackra1n since redsn0w is better.
