I went thru all the steps and got a message on my mac that said waiting to reboot. I waited for 30 min, then I rebooted my mac and now I can't turn on my iPhone. If I restore it I'll loose all my info. If I hold down the button on top nothing happens if I try the home button nothing happens. Help Please.

User error. Waiting to restart your phone, not computer

You mean like the difference between your and you're? And how to spell familiar? And how to capitalize a sentence?

Lets not fight? I had to re-synce my iPhone. When I got there message "waiting to restart or reboot, I waited nearly 20 min. and gave up. Thats why I rebooted my Mac. Should I have waited longer? In any case how can I tell if: iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore and redsn0w_mac_0.9.6rc16 are installed anyway. Also If I succeed in installing these will I loose all my current settings and background images and favorites? By the way I am researching this, thats why I'm in this forum so I can get the help of people more informed than I.
Thank you, so far.
