Anyone else prefer to have the reduced motion accessibility option turned on because of the fade transitions and quicker responsiveness. I feel it also looks better with the fade in/out when you sleep and wake the phone.

What version of os 7 are you using? You need 7.0.3.

7.0.3 on both iPhone 5 and iPad 2.

I notice all the others, like the app fade in/out instead of zoom but can't tell a difference for the fade for the screen on/off.

Can someone post a comparison?

It's a little custom, but I really like the fade in/out in Reduce Motion.
I just wish I could have the parrallax mode on whilst Reduce Motion is switched on. Defeats the point, but I don't have it on because it makes me sick :rolls eyes: I have it on because for me, it's way more pleasing.

Ah, 1st world problems.

There's not really a difference in the animation when waking/sleeping the phone. I don't believe anyone in this thread has really referred to that animation.

The OP is describing the fade effect when opening/closing apps. That's where the difference is.

Same position here.
I just prefer reduce motion animations and fade effects.

Since iOS 7 I've notice the screen fades in and out very subtly when locked and unlocked. Back in iOS 6, the screen would sharply shut on and off in the blink of an eye, but in iOS 7 it's really smooth.

Just one of those understated Apple-esque things.

Ah. Well, it was phrased a little confusingly.

"I feel it also looks better with the fade in/out when you sleep and wake the phone."

Yeah, I notice the iOS7 difference and it's nice. It's just the way the OP worded his sentence that led me to believe having the 'Reduce Motion' setting turned on changed the screen on/off animation.

there are so many threads on this already. what was the point of creating a new thread?

My apologies I can see where I was not clear.

Car makers have done that for about 20 years now (lights inside the car when opening/closing a door) since even the quickest fade is an easier transition that the on/off method. Us humans respond better to soft transitions, since they don't startle us which hard ones do.

Probably some kind of evolutionary safety mechanism...

Great point! I don't understand how people can dislike it? I mean, what does it add in a negative way to the experience?

Agreed. Not liking it is one thing, but not understanding why others might want it as an option, not changing anything for those who don't want it, is completely incomprehensible.
