Hi, I have bought two 16GB DIMM so 32GB in total (third party) for Mac mini 2018 and it has been working just fine.

Now when I checking (Big Sur 11.0.1) they have been reduced to 4GB each..?

ideas?

Post a screen shot of your hardware memory configuration. Make sure to capture all the memory slot information per stick.

Inserted 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance / 2400 Mhz / DDR 4 about a year aga.. could it be Big Sur that is restricting it since they are 3rd party DIMM?

Open up your mini and write down exactly what RAM is in what slots by manufacturer like shown in your screen capture. You may be using incorrect RAM or assuming that there is more RAM installed than what you think.

Guys. Im sorry...those were the DIMMs I got for my NUC.. apologies!

I got a receipt for

Crucial 16GB (2x8GB) / 1866MHz / DDR3L / CL13 / CT2K8G3S186DM (Apple)

but need to reopen to be sure. I am sure I swapped the standard ones out.

Is there a way to check without opening the Mac Mini?

Even worse. Crucial uses exclusively Micron chips. You have SK Hynix DRAM chips. 100% sure you don't have these modules installed in your Mini.

Next time, make sure you have the correct information before posting.

I will, apologies. Though I was saving time by looking into the receipts rather than opening it up.. Need the mac mini for work tomorrow morning so can't open it now but will try tomorrow evening CET in case you haven't lost patience :)

A simple model search verifies these are indeed 4GB modules.

Impossible.

This is the stock SK Hynix RAM that you get with base Mac mini model. Corsair mainly uses Micron DRAM modules for Vengeance SKUs.
I think, you’re correct. That is a brand Apple uses.
