Is there a way, perhaps with a little utility, to adjust the capacity of a disk image to the files it contains? I want to burn one to a cd, the space used in the dmg is less than the capacity of the cd, but the capacity of the dmg is greater, thus disk utility won't let me burn it.
Of course, without coping the files to a smaller dmg.

Thanks in advance

A sparse disk image should take up only the required amount of space. I'm not sure how easy it is to convert a DMG to a sparse DMG, but would it be possible to take everything out and place it in a new sparse disk image? :)

Yes, I also though of that, but I cannot find a way to do it either...

Thanks

Mount the .dmg then in disk utility select the mounted volume. Then press New Image. This will create a new .dmg that has the same contents as the original at the smaller size.
