I know this is a very basic question, so please pardon my ignorance. I would like to know how, on an iPad and using as little third-party software as possible, I can reduce the physical size of a printed image. Not the number of pixels -- I know how to do that, but, whatever the resulting size, when I print the image it will fill up almost the entire A4 page. Any help would be appreciated.

that would depend on the printer driver app - here e.g. Ricoh‘s app:

deselecting »Fit to size« will allow to scale the images. Or you do this via a shortcut.

That‘s probably the minimal „third party“-involvement you have to have.

Thank you. The shortcut doesn't work, maybe needs to be updated, but I finally figured out how to get Epson iPrint to do the job.

Not the answer you might be looking for, but this app is essential for me:

Another less precise way to do it is to start a Word or Pages document, insert the images, and adjust the sizes within the page.

Default iPhone photo size is like 30x40" or something like that, so your printer driver can (usually) only shrink it down to the size of the paper, not smaller.

With Epson iPrint, I can pinch the image to zoom out, and see what it will look like on the printed page. I don't get the actual size in cm or percentage, though.
