ree draw pen/brush in Pages?

I downloaded the trial for iWork '08 and I've been messing around mostly with Pages. I use Word for all of my note taking in college, with lots of lists and whatnot. But there are often times where the professor will draw a little diagram that I like to copy down. I can do this easily in Word but I can't find that function in Pages. I can only find shapes or the "draw a shape" function, which doesn't cut it.

Am I just missing it?
